Mahalia Jackson and Nat King Cole sing on his television show in 1957. Hard to believe either one of them would steal anything with such angelic voices. Enjoy!
Here is another gem from my VHS archives. Our gospel Queen Mahalia Jackson as she appeared in 1957 singing on the Nat King Cole show. Listen to that voice so pure and powerful.
From my VHS archives here is a clip of Aretha Franklin and Billy Preston performing at her home in Detroit for a late night talk show hosted by David Brenner. Rest in peace Billy Preston. Merry Christmas/Happy Hanukah to all!
Mahalia sings 'Down By The Riverside' in a tribute to american music on the Nat King Cole Show in 1957. Mahalia swings this version of the song with bouncy precision. Love it!
Here is the opening number Aretha sang from her home in Detroit for the Nightlife show back in the late eighties. This is my most favorite TV performance of Aretha because of the camera angles, her singing and playing that piano ever so lovely. Enjoy!
In 1992 jazz musician Lionel Hampton received the Kennedy Center Honors. One of his presenters was the Queen of Soul herself recalling a time in which she and her sister Carolyn performed with him as children. She also sings a snippet of Sam Cooke's signature song. Enjoy and rate this video!
In 1994 Aretha Franklin received the Kennedy Center Honors. That evening my VHS recorder malfunctioned and only recorded the video of the program. I was horrified. But I decided to save the beautiful picture montage and dubb in her recording of Ain't Nothing Like The Real Thing. Here is the result. Enjoy!
Up in the wee hours of the morning one day, I got the urge to pull out the recording gear, set up the cam and sing a few songs. The second song of that morning, Where Do Broken Hearts Go, is already uploaded. Now here is the first one. Enjoy and thanks for watching.
During my trip to New Orleans in June, 2004 I visited the grave site of Mahalia Jackson. Here is a little clip of that visit and an audio snippet of her singing "The Lords Prayer" and a picture slide show. Enjoy and please feel free to comment and rate.
Here is a short video displaying all of Aretha's albums released on the Atlantic label. In the background you will hear a cut from the 1977 album entitled "Mumbles" that she co-wrote with Clark Terry. Enjoy and feel free to comment on this production. Long live the Queen!
Check out my rendition of another classic Whitney song. Judging from the other video's I have on this page you can say I was pretty fond of her music back then. She was hard to match. Here's to your comeback Whitney!
Here is a favorite cut of mine from Aretha's Columbia years. Don't know why it has never been re-released on any of the compilation disc that Columbia has released lately. It has great vocals and a driving piano and horn hits. In addition to the song, since Aretha has been known to enjoy boxing, I've put a few pics of some well known boxers in the vid as well. Enjoy and rate this production!
In this video you will see some shots of Cleveland, Ohio while listening to my version of "A Deeper Love" sung to the instrumental a song by Tamia called 'Imagination' produced by Jermaine Dupri. Enjoy and please comment and rate this production!
This song was huge for Bette Midler in 1990 winning grammys for best recording and song of the year and being featured in the movie "Beaches". But I knew and loved this from the Lee Greenwood and Gladys Knight $ the Pips recordings many years before Bette worked her magic with it. Anyway hope you like my version as much as I enjoyed singing it for you.
