It's easy to make water glow very brightly under a black light. You can use the water as an ingredient in slime, crystals, or other projects to make them glow-in-the-dark.
If you add food coloring to milk, not a whole lot happens, but it only takes one simple ingredient to turn the milk into a spinning color wheel. Here is what you do.
Make a giant bubble of carbon dioxide using dry ice and bubble solution. If you use tonic water and a black light, you can make your liquid glow. You can make the bubble itself glow if you add highlighter ink to the bubble solution.
Take a dash of boric acid and a splash of methanol (Heet fuel treatment)... light it... green fire! It's a very easy project, but be sure to avoid contact with the methanol and be advised the flame burns very hot. Only try this project outdoors, with adult supervision.
I put a few drops of food coloring, a little water, and some baking soda in The Martini Glass of Science and added some vinegar. The fizzing continues long after the initial foaming.
