Marie-Claire Alain plays this 1935 Messiaen piece at the Hofkirche in Lucerne. This is a neo-classical tracker organ built 1972-77 by Orgelbau Kuhn AG. The disposition is listed at http://www.hoforgel- luzern.ch/dispositio n.htm
Rather imposing 32' pedal principals!
This is the improvisation played following the composer's pondering the registration at http://youtube.com/w atch?v=lX6Obr3Qkr4
This is the second improvisation from the now out-of-print DVD http://tinyurl.com/o ybus : "And the three kings had seen the Star of the Christ in the East and headed towards Nazareth."
Ton Koopman plays Bach's Fugue in g minor on the greater Silbermann organ (built 1714-18, renovated 1981-83) at St. Marien Cathedral in Freiberg.
This is a clip from the DVD "Ton Koopman Plays Bach - Organ Works, Harpsichord Pieces, Arias": http://tinyurl.com/y afwyd
Notice the old style pedals (short!) and then, of course, the shoelaces. Such a spirited performance!
A small fragment from Ton Koopman's DVD "Organ Works. Harpsichord Pieces, Arias". See http://tinyurl.com/f ykkh
This is Presto from Toccata in G major for harpsichord, BWV 916. The camera operator is an idiot but it's still fascinating to watch, esp. NOT played on the piano for once. If anyone knows of any video of any performance on the *lute harpsichord* (aka. Lautenwerk), let me know.
Another movement from "Quartet for the End of Time". Recorded 30 November 1991. This is a short excerpt from the DVD http://tinyurl.com/o ybus which is unfortunately out of print. Hopefully these clips will keep more people interested in this edition.
No description needed. The film is available on the DVD in the UK http://tinyurl.com/f yz4v and in the US http://tinyurl.com/z 8aje
Music by Mihály Vig who composed music to many of Tarr's films and even acted in one ("Sátántangó", as Irimiás). A great sounding selection of his work appeared on CD in Hungary: http://tinyurl.com/h doc3
This piece is track 9 ("Esö").
...selecting registration. Olivier Messiaen before playing one of his organ improvisations at Ste-Trinité church in Paris (where he was the organist for over 60 years).
This clip is from the DVD "Quartet for the End of Time/Improvisations" , see http://tinyurl.com/o ybus

This clip shows two characters from the film walking to the police station.
New Year's Eve 2002/2003 party and fireworks on Unter den Linden in Berlin. Anyone knows how to make the sound STAY IN SYNC?? This is an extremely annoying problem. You can see this video in correct sync and in stereo on Google at http://tinyurl.com/p f4wu
The usual silliness of the Bay to Breakers race in San Francisco. Calling it a race is perhaps a bit of a stretch for most of the participants but who cares. Another one is coming in a few days anyway. I was painted silver but I'm holding the camera so you can't see me, heh...
This is the famous bust of Queen Nefretiti in (at the time the video was taken) Ägyptisches Museum in Berlin. In 2005 the museum moved from its Charlottenburg location to Altes Museum: http://tinyurl.com/y d8azz We also take a look at one of the unfinished models, from the same ancient workshop.
One more snippet from the "Pulling the Stops" DVD box. Here is a glimpse of practicing Franck's "Pičce héroďque" on the organ at Notre-Dame de la Dalbade in Toulouse, built by Théodore Puget in 1888. (Thanks to chwidder for this information.)
Walking near the northern side of the Reichstag building in Berlin by the river Spree. I'm standing in West Berlin, the border is at the nearest water edge. The East Berlin patrol boat is thus in the East although the wall is across the river for obvious reasons. Then we pause for the crosses. The last cross has a date that's just 4 months old. Sad.
