Eloy is one of my deepest musical tickles of my heart, a 'spacy' experimental rock band from Germany, which started in the early 70-ties. Point of no return is from the album Planets, which is an epical masterpiece - a mystical journey through the universe made of musical tunes...
"Power and Passion" is another epic album from Eloy - a story of two young people from present and past who have found themselves in the 14. century and fell in love... The love over six centuries unfortunately ends back in the present times in the memories called up by the ringing of the bells of Notre Dame...
Another great song I was terribly missing on youtube, so I decided to post it here ;). This time it is Another Planet from Siouxsie (The Creatures) from the album Anima/Animus.
Another great German band I decided to post here - is the punk/rock/goth legend Xmal Deutschland, admired more abroad than in their homeland and founded in 1980 by five female musicians from Hamburg. The charismatic singer Anja Huwe was often compared to Siouxsie Sioux.
The band lasted in changed formation till 1989.
"Polarlicht" is from album Viva, released in 1987.
This is a newer version of an older song (composed together with John´s ex-Velvet Underground ´mate´ Lou Reed) and it´s a part of John Cale´s album Black Accetate. And of course in particular - it´s a great song performed by a great musician.
PS: John - thank you for your gorgeous concert in Prague in March ´06 - right a day after your birthday!
Damnation - another remarkable theme from the legendary PC-game Quake, released in 1996, which became a worthy follower of the id-software´s cult Doom. But what makes this game a very special one is the dark creepy occult soundtrack composed by Trent Reznor. It´s a masterpiece from the highest adept of his branch. Quake is still considered as one of the best soundtracks ever...
This is an instrumental theme from the Tangerine Dream album "Thief" and it's dedicated to paintworks and collages of my German friend Markus. Especially some of them are my very favourite ones.
You can find nearly all of them on his website: http://www.terrormed ia.org/slide/
In memory of Rozz Williams 1963 - 1998
This April we have 10 years of this sad anniversary.
This depressive song (a cover version of Roxy Music) is not for everyone.
Einstuerzende Neubauten - also one of the greatest and most inventive German music groups. Their leader and the creative brain (and singer too...) of the band Blixa Bargeld played earlier with Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds. This inspires to statement that Nick Cave always knew how to cooperate with genial people...
Finally I managed to upload another of my favourite songs of the German progrock band Eloy - Ro Setau from the last Eloy album "Ocean 2, The Answer" from 1998. It was the last however still the good old Eloy: The songs are enigmatic, transcendental, bit psychedelic and rock-loyal. The same about the lyrics - eerie, visionary, cosmic and ancient at the same time.
This is a the 'main' song from the Heavenly Melancholy compilation recorded shortly before the suicide of Gitane's best friend and love Rozz Williams (the co-founder of Christian Death). Gitane remained one of the most underestimated female talents and voices ever...
The song is from the This Ascension album "Walk Softly. A Dream Lies Here". And I've 'borrowed' the pictures for this slide show from the This Ascension Home Page - http://www.thisascen sion.com/sound.html.
