A FINE performance from the January 29, 1965 episode of "The Jack Benny Program." The Appearance is almost a "throwback" as the trio performs Tijuana Jail -- which at that time had been around 6 years.
Where are the striped shirts and weejuns?
Acoutrement not withstanding, the instrumentation is ULTRA cool on this one...John Stewart is playing a BLONDE Vega PS-5, Bob Shane plays his 3/4 Martin dreadnought, and Nick Reynolds works out on a SUPER RARE Martin 8-string Tenor!
This was the first of the celebrity "don't smoke" appeals. Bill Talman played the DA on "Perry Mason" and was under very heavy medication at the time this was filmed (six weeks before his death), The ad didn't even start running until after his death, so the effect was even more profound.
The other video is an abreviated version...poor picture and sound. So I edited together a MUCH better live version of the song with some different videos and stills that work pretty well. Enjoy!
This officer couldn't have illustrated his instructions better if he had planned it. Scary! Thankfully nobody was hurt. I am certain a change of underwear was needed though...
Dave Guard, Bob Shane and Nick Reynolds perform the Woody Guthrie classic as recorded on their eponymous debut album. I BELIEVE this performance would have been from "Startime" -- a George Burns vehicle from November 1959.
You've gotta love the set backdrop...represent ative of the fact the the Kingston Trio had almost overnight become college campus favorites.
A selection of a VERY few spots I have voiced and produced audio for over the last couple of years at Bill Young Productions in Houston TX USA...concerts, DVDs, trailers, pay-per-view promos, etc. Enjoy!
