The Kingdom of Prussia (German: Königreich Preußen) was a German kingdom from 1701 to 1918 and, from 1871, was the leading state of the German Empire, comprising almost two-thirds of the area of the empire. It took its name from the territory of Prussia, although its power base was Brandenburg.
The Confederate States of America (also called the Confederacy, the Confederate States, and CSA) is the name of the government formed by eleven southern states of the United States of America between 1861 and 1865. However, since the CSA was never recognized by other countries, by international law and custom, it was never properly an independent country.
The Internationale
words by Eugène Pottier (1871)
music by Pierre Degeyter (1888)
The Internationale, originally a French song, is now a well known song. It was the official anthem of the Soviet Union in the years 1918 through late 1943 (sung in Russian, of course). It is also the anthem of Communist parties and many socialist movements worldwide.
"World in Union", with lyrics by Charlie Skarbek, is a theme song for the Rugby (Union) World Cup which attempts to capture the spirit of international friendship which pervades rugby union culture the world over.
