My Better Half likes flamenco and likes to dance around the room playing these records. La Nina de los Peines is a marvellous singer, of course, backed by Nino Ricardo on guitar.
Admittedly, there's a lot of these old ethnic 78 rpm records in the Winin' Boy collection. This is a Turkish singer that has a marvellous voice. The guys backing her are really swinging cats too!
2nd try to upload this one. Cuts of right when Roy starts playing "little grass shack" on hawaiian guitar. Roy continues by playing Tiger Rag on his uke. (you can find this video elsewhere on this site.) Does anybody have the complete "Grass Shack"?
Back in the days when Hawaiian musicians really could swing, this was a very popular duo it seems. You still find their 78's quite regularly on Belgian fleamarkets. Absolutely marvellous version of this classic.
Never got round to posting this till now. On the other side is the Tango Flamenco. Don't know what la Nina is singing about, but I am in love with her voice! And now I can also safely say that the guitar player is in fact Nino Ricardo. Enjoy!
Look! With both hands! Quick instrumental runthrough (with silly superfluous ending) to replace the previous version.
Mind you, anyone who wants to learn this lovely song, the correct chord progression is quite different from what I play here.
It's still early in the afternoon when the Winin' Boys play their first acoustic set at the Belgian Ukulelefestival. See www.ukulelefestival. be or www.wininboys.tk for more info
