Jun. 30, 2008: New York, NY -- A 49 year-old woman died on the psychiatric emergency room floor at Kings County Hospital in Brooklyn, NY. The woman was on the floor for almost an hour before hospital staff tended to her. The cause of her death is unknown.
June 13, 2008: A government witness in a gang turf war trial claims that former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson offered $50,000 for a hit against rival gangs after Tyson's bodyguard was killed in 2000. The alleged hit was never carried out.
July 1, 2008: 32-year-old Lester Hooper, a NY State trooper, is accused of writing 5 false traffic tickets to his neighbor in retaliation for a dispute over a parking space involving his wife. Hooper is facing 3 felony counts of issuing false citations. The victim, Derrick Perry, claims that he was never pulled over and cited.
Oct. 8, 2008: West Babylon, NY -- Long Island slum lord Wilson Milord is arrested for criminally negligent homicide in the deaths of 3 tenants. Last November, instead of installing electricity, Milord put a portable generator in the basement of a West Babylon home he owned. The fumes from the generator killed 3 tenants, including a 4 year old child. Milord is being held on $500,000 bond.
Oct. 8, 2008: New York, NY -- A Manhattan judge convicts Reverend Al Sharpton and 7 others of disorderly conduct. Sharpton was one of 250 people arrested for blocking bridges, tunnels, and intersections last May while protesting the Sean Bell shooting verdicts. The judge sentenced Sharpton to time served.
