Mr. Sheffield invites Shari Lewis to stay at his house, and of course Fran has to snoop around her stuff. She accidentally lets go of Chester, who eats Lamb Chop!!!
Maxwell decides to shop for a new ring for Fran after the engagement.Fran gets an astonishing ring and they are mentioned in the social column (and Fran's name is mistyped Fran Fone...). In retaliation for a perceived snub at Fran's wedding by Sylvia, Fran's widowed (and rich) Aunt Freida buys Sylvia and Mortie's apartment building, and promptly kicks them out, forcing Fran to take them in at the Sheffield residence!!!!!!!

Maggie is invited to her first sweet sixteen party, so Fran takes her to "The Chatterbox", her favorite beauty parlor. Meanwhile, Mr. Sheffield is holding auditions for his next play and this poor girl named Mary Ruth is rejected. She makes friends with Fran, who takes her to The Chatterbox to see if they can hire her as the new shampoo girl (a job also wanted by Sylvia).
Everyone is thrilled with the prospect of moving to California when Maxwell gets a Hollywood movie deal, except for Fran and Sylvia, who can't bear the thought of living apart. But Sylvia refuses to budge, leading a puzzled Fran to a discovery about her mother's secret life.....
The news of Danny's marriage to Heather Biblow makes Fran start buying everything she cans. After being confronted by Mr. Sheffield, Fran enters shoppers anonymous, but has a very tough time giving up shopping....
Maxwell's brother, Nigel, is back to throw him a bachelor party, and Fran is terrified because Maxwell doesn't know that she almost married Nigel a year and a half ago......
