This is the 600th hobo I've drawn for the 700 Hoboes Project which can be seen in all it's glory at e-hobo.com.
All of the hobo names can be found in John Hodgman's book, The Areas of My Expertise, which is very funny and very educational.
All of my hoboes can be seen here: http://www.flickr.co m/photos/apelad/sets /1223244/
J. Arthur Crank, from John Hodgman's list of 700 hobo names. More info on e-hobo.com and areasofmyexpertise.c om.
I first used a yellow ultra fine point Sharpie to sketch this one before moving on to the trusty PITT pen, size B. The yellow doesn't appear when scanned as a bitmap.
Here's a quick and easy tip for those of you who like to use the Faber Castell PITT brush pen. Don't throw it away when the tip is frayed, just follow these easy steps!
It's hobo 765: Panel Discussion Dan Loaf, from John Hodgman's 700 hobo names. But wait, you say, how can he be # 765 if there are only 700? I'll leave that to the good folks at e-hobo.com to explain.
For this drawing I didn't make you watch me do the sketch phase, which is the yellow scrawlings you can probably see. Also, the finished version of this can be seen on my flickr stream.
Here is part three of three segments showing how I create the monkeys for sale on my blog (apelad.blogspot.com ). This video is also available unedited (at 13 minutes) and with sound (I talk a lot) on my blog.
I just completed another little book full of hoboes, the finished versions of which can be seen here: http://www.flickr.co m/photos/apelad/sets /1223244/ .
You can probably hear some kids playing Lego Star Wars in the background as well.
